This week I made my second visit to The Richmond on Park Road – and its confirmed as love.
I visited here in my first few days as a west end girl and I loved the vibe of the bar instantly. You can tell that some serious money has been spent creating the cool American 1920 swinging style. With its gorgeous floors, comfortable seating and glass bar I can imagine walking through the door wearing a gorgeous bejewelled flapper dress and ordering a Southside Cocktail during the prohibition.
On both occasions I have visited around 6pm on a week night but both evening the bar was nicely full with people stopping for an early dinner or afternoon drinks. I can imagine in the evening and at weekends the place will be quite busy.
The staff have been great and really friendly on both my visits, willing to give guidance and recommendations when you ask for them. On my second visit I had my 5 year old niece with me – the waiter was great with her which I was really pleased with because some of the younger staff in west end bars can be a little cold with young kids, and he was a handsome fella which never hurts. 🙂
So lets talk menu – on my first visit I opted for the absolutely delicious pulled pork fajitas, however due to the amazing weather we’ve been having in Glasgow this week I decided to go for the lighter Caesar Salad with Chicken – which was served with Parmesan, avocado, anchovies and all the good stuff that goes with a Caesar. It was light and delicious with the perfect amount of dressing and the chicken was well seasoned, juicy and moist. It was the prefect meal for a summer evening.
As a little food side note my niece is a Mac & Cheese monster so she opted for the side dish of M&C and it was completely amazing – creamy and salty. Yum!
Being a Dundee girl there was only one option for dessert, the Double Nougat. 2 scoops of amazing vanilla ice cream sandwiched between 2 nougat wafers which came wrapped in a little grease proof sheet like you used to get from the ice cream van served with Raspberry sauce and sweet and sticky cream.
I will be visiting again soon and can’t recommend this bistro enough – even just for a cocktail on a Friday evening.
