Friday Foodie Fives – 5 Meat Crazy Restaurants
This week saw the great and good of the Glasgow Food Scene celebrate Nation Burger Day on Wednesday, as homage to the great burger I was going to do my Foodie Fives on burgers but the truth of the matter is only occasionally will I actually order a burger. Sure there are times that I take a taste for one, but more often that not I won’t go out to try burgers in restaurants. In light of this I decided to change up my list to include the best places in Glasgow to get your meat on. Here are my top picks to satisfy your meat cravings…
My top pick for the best steak in Glasgow has to be the reasonably newly opened Alston Bar and Gin. I have been here now a few times and thesteaks are completely sensational. One night when Mr Geek and myself were feeling particularly flush we even went nuts and ordered the 35 day dry-aged Porterhouse, I have to tell you it was the best steak I have ever eaten. This is a meat eaters paradise which a whole range for gorgeous steaks on offer for you to choose from.
For burgers I am sure by now you all know where I consider the best burger in Glasgow – Bread Meats Bread. There burgers are flavoursome and always incredibly juicy and scrumptious. They do a range of delicious options to add to your burger including my favourite, the incredibly tasty 12 hour smoked in-house brisket. It’s fast, cheap and tasty – whats not to like?
If you are looking for a tasty steak then I would highly recommend the wonderful Butchershop Bar and Grill, where you can chow down on a mouth-watering T-Bone which will be cooked to succulent perfection. On offer is a brilliant array of steaks including a Côte de boeuf, a Chateaubriand and a veal t-bone if you fancied something a little different. Definitely one of my favourite steak restaurants in Glasgow and worth a visit anytime.
How could I mention meats in Glasgow without mentioning the insanely good burgers at Lebowskis. These guys make a mean burger and the range of additional topping is fantastic. They absolutely win the award for the tallest burger in Glasgow – these guys stack ’em high which I love, although if you add tons of toppings like me you will definitely need to eat it with a fork and knife. If you are looking for a tip on topping my favourite combo is a beef patty, smoked applewood cheese, smoked bacon, Stornoway black pudding and the smokey mayo…my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Included in my meaty favourites in the city is the steaks available at Grill on the Corner at 29. This is they only place where I have ever eaten Wagyu beef and it was sensational, an acquired taste as it is quite aromatic but I adored it. They have a wonderful range of steak available which have always been cooked really beautifully whenever I have dinner here. Also worth a mention is the Wagyu beef burger which I have never tried but is incredibly tempting – perhaps on my next visit 🙂
