Can you believe it, here we are on the cusp of a brand new year? Where did 2014 go? This will be my last post of the year so I wanted to do a little round-up of my highlights of the year.
What a year I have had, it’s been literally one of the best ever for me and I put that down in no short part to this little piece of the internet I call my own. I have found a genuine joy in writing Glasgow Food Geek, I can’t tell you how happy you have all made me this year by engaging with me. I started this blog as a bit of a laugh for my family in Dundee to keep up with my West End escapades and it has turned into a great love for me.
I enjoy so much getting out in this city that I love to try all the amazing food places that Glasgow has to offer, sharing them with you and hopefully encouraging you to go out and try places for yourself. I am a massive fan of shopping local and promoting the very best local business that G-Town has to offer.
In my little corned of the online universe I take such pride in making sure I am delivery to you my honest upfront opinion of the places I try. You put your trust in me to tell you the truth and that is something I take very very seriously which I hope really comes over in my reviews.
Planned for the blog next year – Some of you quite regularly ask me about the pricing brackets of the places I try, so from the start of 2015 on each new review I am going to include a picture of my receipt so that you are able to tally together the cost with the review, I am hoping this will offer you all a more rounded review.
Also, as I have promised lots of you I am definitely going to focus on Geek TV next year and bring you all move volgs about my favourite eating spots. There will be lots more fun features that pop up on the blog through out next year which I am very excited to share with you.
That is what I have coming up on the blog next year covered now what about the year that is nearly over?
It’s not just the New Kids on the Block that have won my heart tho this year, I’ve really enjoyed some lovely meals in Don Costanzo, Cubatas, Ubiquitous Chip, Butchershop, Cail Bruich, Shish Mahal, The Grill Room, The Gannet and my local The Drake.
I was beyond sad to lose my most eaten in restaurant in The Ricmond 🙁
There has definitely been a ridiculous amount of new burger places opened this year. I’m sure you all know by now if you follow me on twitter that my heart belongs to Bread Meats Bread (sigh!) I genuinely adore these guys and always enjoy their food. Special mentions also has to go to Meathammer @ The Record Factory, Bar Bloc and Lebowskis where I enjoyed great burgers this year.
As I write this post thinking of my food highlights from 2014 I am reminded yet again what a fantastic warm and welcoming food scene we have here. I hate feeling intimidated and out-of-place in restaurants but in every single one of these eating spots I have been made to feel welcomed…which is not something to be underrated.
Now that we bid 2014 a fond farewell we look forward to what 2015 has in store…I hope more beautiful food, lovely nights with friends and great culinary delights in restaurants old and new. 2015 is the year of Food & Drink in Scotland…I say in this wonderful city it is always the year of Food and Drink.
Have a wonderful amazing gorgeous 2015 guys you’ve genuinely made my year – Thank you! xx
