Glasgow Best Valentines Restaurants

I know! I know! It’s only January but Valentines Day is only 3 weeks on Saturday and if you want to get a good booking for dinner you need to get your bahookie in gear!

It’s that time of year again when romance is forced upon us wither we like it or not. As it goes I actually don’t mind valentines day, you just have to approach it as a sensible human being…you are not in a rom com or a chick lit book, the day will 100% not be like a movie montage of wonderful, outrageous romance.

I choose to see Valentines as a day for saying to your partner – Hey I see you, I think your wicked awesome every day but today I am just going to remind you to make sure that you know it. I understand why people shun this ‘forced’ declaration of love day, but I figure life is all too short and we should let the people we love know that we love them all the time – really what is wrong with a little schmaltz and cheese?!?

As it turns out Mr G and myself very rarely do gift and cards (although last year I got the presents to end all presents for Mr G – yes! score me!) this year especially after the renovations cash flow is not flowing freely, so we have just booked somewhere great for dinner where we will get a little dressed up, hangout and have some amazing food….sounds like a pretty perfect night to me.

I have taken great care in picking this years venue as I hate that feeling of being  herded cattle which is all too common on valentines,  you know that in, sit, eat, out feeling that some places give you. In an effort to help you guys out I have done a bit of research and come up with some of my favourite restaurants that I think would be great to hangout with your love and enjoy some great food.

I am posting this a little early as I think these places will fill up pretty fast.

The big gesture! If you want to get dressed up and have a romantic night – roses, champagne the works then I would recommend Ubiquitous Chip (ask for a courtyard table for extra romance), Alston or Hutcheson. These cool contemporary locations are some of the best restaurants in the city and to me feel like special occasion restaurants for a lovely romantic night.

Low Key Glamour! If you want amazing food but in a little more casual surroundings then The Gannet, Cail Bruich, Don Costanzos and The Scullery absolutely have to be on your hit list. These chefs are some of my favourite in the city, they provide exceptional food in relaxed welcoming surrounding which I love.

The Causal ‘No biggie’ Night! If you want to do something super casual and rock up in jeans and trainers then The Drake, Firebird and Curlers Rest would be top of my list. Fantastic honest top-notch pub food in casual surroundings where you could happily wile away the evening with some beautiful food and a bottle of wine.

Not for me thanks! If you want to blow the whole thing off and have a night out with your buddies I would hit the fantastic Bread Meats Bread, Bar Bloc or Lebowskis for casual drinks and great burgers.

Get booking now, you don’t want to miss out on your chosen restaurant!

Pam
