Any event which gives me an excuse on a Thursday night in January to dress up in heels and big hair is not an event to be missed in my book.
Waaaay back in November I was invited along to the launch party for the Scottish Entertainment Awards in January, I was in the crazy build up to christmas but remember thinking at the time – oh! that is awesome a reason to get dressed up in January, which lets be honest in the post-Christmas fall out it is something nice to look forward to, and I was right.
After much tooing and frooing with my crew of dolls outfits were picked, hair was poofed and mascara was slicked and we moseyed on down to the Corinthian for a fun-filled night of cocktails, Des Clarke, Gorgeous Drag Queens, Nichollas McDonald and a Scottish boyband whose name I have forgotten…..oh and the cutest kids choir you’ve ever seen.
The place was absolutely jumping when we arrived at 6.30 so I was more than a little pleased when the lovely Michael from the Entertainment awards escorted us upstairs to the VIP bar….still no seats but at least we got an eagle eye view of the proceedings and spent the first few minutes of our arrival trying to avoid being in the background shot of Colin Stone who was reporting live for the Riverside show.
Now that I have set the scene let me tell you a little but about why we were there – the Awards are to celebrate all that is good and great about the entertainment industry in Scotland. There are a whole host of categories where you can nominate your favourites in including – Italian, Asian, Indian, fine dining restaurant, most romantic getaway, best burger, pub of the year, family day out…the list goes on and on. Once we the public have voted the top five in every category is then assessed but a panel of independent judges and a winner is crowned at the big awards show in April which is sure to be a great night.
Voting is open now…so go vote! Remember it is Scotland wide but of course I am rooting for #TeamGlasgow to sweep the board.
