You guys have (hopefully) noticed this – I’m constantly trying to up my food photography game. I’m always on Instagram and Pintrest looking at images of food, researching props and thinking about how I can improve my images…… I’m actually hoping that MrG might splurge and get me a camera for my birthday (hint hint MrG!)
So when Belling.co.uk got in contact with me to tell me about their new campaign #GoodLookingCooking I was keen to get involved. They are trying to showcase how style and tasty food really are a match made in heaven, and given that I spend literally hours on instagram drooling over pictures of food that is certainly a sentiment I would wholeheartedly support.
I immediately put my mind to work on how to show that food and style go hand in hand…this obviously had to start with my favourite food….cookies. Then I had to decide how I could photography them to make them look mega fab.
And these are the images I came up with – some of my favourite pictures from my geek cake club recipes yet!
On top of what I think are some of my best pics, I also ended up with a cracking Mint Oreo & Dark Choc Cookies recipe which is seriously floating my boat. Lordy lordy how I love mint and chocolate together.
These are super easy, super fast and super duper delicious so give them a bash – I think you’ll love them.
250g Plain Flour
½ tsp Baking Powder
¼ tsp Salt
230g Unsalted Butter
100g Granulated Sugar
100g Light Brown Sugar
100g Chopped up Dark Chocolate
1 packet of Mint Oreos, broken
Pre-heat the oven to 175C
Step 1 – In a bowl measure out the flour, baking powder and salt and set to one side
Step 2 – Cream together the butter and sugars in a large mixing bowl using an electric handheld whisk until they are light and well combined.
Step 3 – Add the vanilla and egg to the butter mixture, beat again using the hand held whisk until combined.
Step 4 – Add half the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix using the hand held whisk, once just combined add the other half of the flour and mix again just until the flour is no longer visible..
Step 5 – Add the chopped chocolate & bashed up mint oreo cookies, then using a wooden spoon stir them into the dough until they are distributed evenly through the mixture.
Step 6 – Using a tablespoon measure out approx 1 – 1½ inch size balls of dough and lightly roll them, before placing them on a baking sheet. These will spread a lot so be sure to leave a lot of room.
Step 7 – Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are just turning golden then remove from the oven and allow to cool completely on the baking sheet.
