Lily Bakes Cakes Review
If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I take cakes very very seriously. I take them so seriously in fact that I recently queued for 30 minutes in the rain to get my hands on some Lily Bakes Cakes goodies.
Now this in itself isn't especially newsworthy, but if you ask literally any of my pals they will tell you I don't wait for tables in restaurants and I don't queue for more than about 5 minutes for food ever! So this should tell you how excited I was to try out this new Partick hot spot.
In the shop you can find a ridiculously delicious selection of cakes - the flavours can vary from week to week but I am talking biscoff truffles, caramilk cupcakes, mint aero brownies, nutella and kinder blondies, red velvet cake jars, slutty brownies, kinder hippo cookies, milky way cheesecake pots and rainbow slice cake….just to give you a bit of a vibe of what you can expect to find. I can report that I have tried a fair number of these now and I’m happy to assure you that my extensive research has proved that these cakes are AWESOME!
And while this is a cake lover's dream of a shop beware, if you are planning to pay this cake eden a visit - Lily likes to think of my sugar to blood levels and limits my access to her beautiful cakes by only opening 2 days a week Friday & Saturday - usually from 11am to 6pm on Friday, and 4pm on Saturday.
Now when I told MaGeek that it is only open 2 days a week her immediate response was ‘What kind of Business only opens 2 days a week? My answer? ‘A bloody successful one!’
And this is 100% true - this is a crazy popular business so you can almost always expect something of a queue to buy your cakes, but I promise you it is worth it.
For what it is worth, my absolute favourite of Lily's cakes is her THICCCCC Kinder Rocky Road which can easily be cut in two and shared, but I honestly have no idea why you would want to do that because this is a crazy good cake. Packed with biscuits, mallows and kinder it is crunchy, creamy and melt in the mouth delicious and as far as I am concerned a must order when you visit.
Lily Bakes Cakes is an absolutely brilliant addition to Partick and already a firm favourite in my household.
As a side note Lily also does the most beautiful celebration cakes which you can order on her website.
Friday: 11am - 6pm
Saturday: 11am - 4pm
